In March 2010, we descended on the majestic mountains of Whistler, BC to join our partners, the Canadian Paralympic Committee, for the final weekend of the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. With the theme of Building Sponsorship Equity, delegates were immersed in an unparalleled agenda featuring 40 industry leaders. The 2010 Forum format included the introduction of new learning platforms such as hands-on Business of Sponsorship tutorials, moderated discussion rooms and interactive strategy sessions. Networking events included taking delegates up the gondola to the peak of Whistler Mountain for a dinner reception at the Roundhouse Lodge, a live Alpine Ski Visually Impaired Medal Event, watching the Sledge Hockey Final from the IPC House and the grand finale of the Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony. Not only did we take delegates inside the Games –16 Paralympic athletes joined us to share inspirational stories and mingle with delegates for a truly authentic, Canadian event. A surprise appearance and moving speech by John Furlong, CEO of VANOC, topped of this unmatched event, taking the Forum to new levels of inspiration and motivation.

The 2009 Forum ventured into Quebec for the first time and partnered with Quebec City’s Winter Carnaval, which is one of the premier sponsorship events in Canada and the largest event of its kind in the world. Within the theme of “Storytelling”, delegates were treated to an outstanding agenda of speakers and industry professionals, along with some terrific networking events that included a visit to the world-renowned Ice Hotel and VIP treatment to enjoy all of the pageantry of the Carnaval Night Parade.

In 2008, Canadian Sponsorship Forum delegates were placed directly in the middle of international hockey hysteria as the World Hockey Championships came to Halifax for the Qualifying Rounds. They had a chance to tour Alexander Keith’s Brewery, enjoyed a reception at historic Pier 21 hosted by the Canada Games Council, met Canada’s first lady of hockey Hayley Wickenheiser and watched Team Canada take on Team USA in a hard fought win that the boys pulled out in the final minute of the game.

2007 saw us come east to Toronto and the Toronto International Film Festival, the world’s largest public film festival. Delegates schmoozed at the ET Canada Studio Lounge, met Oscar-nominated Director, Deepa Mehta, saw private screenings of Canadian short films, enjoyed a private VIP reception and showing of George Clooney’s new movie, were shocked by a surprise stunt performance and attended the official Closing Night Gala and Afterparty at Harbourfront.
